The Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in supporting a statewide analytics initiative aimed at converting extensive structured and unstructured datasets into actionable insights. This position is integral to the creation of a scalable analytics product that aids in data-driven decision-making, legislative evaluation, and policy enhancement. The Data Scientist will collaborate closely with database teams, business stakeholders, data owners, and analytics committees.
Project Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering impactful data-driven recommendations and developing robust machine learning models. The Data Scientist will engage in all phases of analytics activities, including exploratory analysis, model development, validation, deployment, and continuous monitoring. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the enhancement of data science best practices and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Transform business challenges into data science problems and devise analytical solutions.
- Gather, sanitize, and preprocess large structured and unstructured datasets.
- Assist in the development, validation, and deployment of machine learning models.
- Conduct statistical analysis and hypothesis testing.
- Support the design and analysis of A/B tests.
- Create predictive and prescriptive models.
- Effectively communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with data engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Monitor model performance and retrain models as necessary.
- Contribute to data science documentation and best practices.
