Overall Job Summary: At H&M, our Assistant Managers hold the title of Department Managers, responsible for driving the Sales and Profit objectives in our store. Your key focus will be to establish a strategic plan that fosters the Best Customer Experience within your department and throughout the store. As the Department Manager, you will build and develop a high-performing team, engaging in succession planning, talent development, and structured performance management based on results, core values, and leadership principles. You will adhere to legal requirements and H&M standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring that customer and colleague expectations are consistently met.
This position reports directly to the Store Manager and oversees the Department Supervisor and Sales Advisors.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Sales and Profit Management:
- Continuously analyze and monitor Sales & Profit KPIs for the department alongside Visual Merchandisers, ensuring proactive measures are taken to optimize selling opportunities.
- Collaborate with the store management team to uphold operational standards, H&M best practices, and proper scheduling to maximize conversion rates and support commercial initiatives (Sales, Events, etc.) while maintaining budgeted hours.
- Plan and prioritize actionable strategies with your team that directly influence sales, ensuring compliance with the Commercial Handbook.
- Deliver exceptional H&M Customer Service standards through active coaching and setting an exemplary standard.
- Participate in key store routines and tasks including but not limited to delivery processing, garment handling, markdowns, and price adjustments.
- Implement loss prevention strategies and ensure adherence to safety and security protocols within the department.
- Provide insights to the Store Manager and Area Teams regarding stock allocation and replenishment, adapting to sales trends and recognizing competitive threats and opportunities.
People and Team Development:
- Oversee recruitment, training, and development of the department team, aligned with H&M best practices.
- Assess and manage team member performance through regular feedback, performance dialogues, development plans, and necessary performance improvement actions.
- Communicate business performance, company culture, and training emphases effectively to the Store team through daily meetings and participation in weekly Leadership Meetings.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, legal, and security regulations within the workplace.
