Position Overview: Director of Category Management - Mechanics
The Director of Category Management - Mechanics will serve as a strategic leader responsible for formulating and executing a holistic sourcing and supplier strategy that builds a robust global supplier network. This role is essential for driving innovation and value creation within the Mechanics category. The leader will craft ASM’s long-term sourcing roadmap, negotiate contracts, and ensure excellence in cost, quality, and supplier performance.
As a key member of ASM’s Global Sourcing leadership team, the category leader will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Business Units to translate business requirements into strategic sourcing solutions, enabling ASM to scale globally with resilience, agility, and technological prowess.
ASM’s products involve a variety of machining, sheet metal, and plastic fabrication parts that are custom-built based on ASM’s design specifications. This category represents nearly 20% of ASM’s total direct spend and includes components critical to delivering our cutting-edge technology to customers. The category leader will actively engage supply partners who can meet ASM’s next-generation precision manufacturing demands while continuously seeking opportunities to enhance the supply base.

- Design and implement a 3 to 5-year global category sourcing strategy, ensuring supplier capabilities are 2-3 years ahead of product introductions.
