Qualifications
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the energy industry.A relevant college degree is required; a graduate degree or advanced industry training is preferred.Experience and knowledge of wholesale energy markets, including resource and transmission planning, generation interconnection, resource adequacy, and market design.In-depth knowledge of CAISO and related ISO/RTO frameworks, including Resource Adequacy (RA), Congestion Rent, Price Formation, and California's Extended Day Ahead Market (EDAM) is preferred.Familiarity with the California Public Utilities Commission Resource Adequacy (RA) policy framework is a plus.Understanding of Markets+ is preferred.Strong writing skills are essential.Experience writing under tight deadlines is an advantage.Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills are required.Excellent verbal and public presentation skills are preferred.The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is essential.

As the Director of Market Intelligence, your primary responsibilities will include attending and actively participating in California ISO (CAISO) stakeholder meetings. Following each meeting, you will produce concise reports, complete with analysis, detailing significant presentations, announcements, discussions, and other key developments for both internal and external clients. Additionally, you will lead a small team of CAISO/West market intelligence associates to ensure comprehensive coverage of all CAISO and western power market issues. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and possess exceptional communication and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Market IQ Service
- Attend stakeholder meetings and within days, produce succinct reports with analysis on critical developments for clients.
- Tailor reporting and analysis based on clients’ commercial interests, such as generation, transmission, load, and trading.
- Proactively identify and define issues aligned with clients' commercial objectives.
- Advise on appropriate courses of action based on clients' needs.
- Deliver real-time reporting and analysis on significant developments affecting clients commercially.
- Maintain close relationships with clients, addressing inquiries promptly and scheduling regular updates.
- Consulting and Market Design Services
- Engage and support clients through reports, analyses, and consulting projects focused on current and emerging market designs for CAISO and other regions.
