The Director of Operations plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of KIPP NYC schools. This individual is responsible for establishing and upholding robust operational systems that enable the principal and educators to concentrate on the needs of students and their families. The ideal candidate will be innovative, open to continuous improvement, and eager to tackle challenges that promote smarter and more cost-effective operations.
Reporting directly to the Principal, the Director of Operations will manage the school Operations team and be an integral member of the school leadership team. This role involves collaboration with teachers and families, oversight of a multi-million dollar budget, and acting as the primary liaison with the KIPP NYC Shared Services Team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Management: Oversee the Office Manager, address general office and administrative needs, and ensure the efficient operation of the administrative office, including mailings, attendance reporting, and office machine maintenance. Collaborate with the School Leadership Team and the regional KIPP NYC Operations Team.
Student Recruitment: Manage student recruitment, admissions applications, registration, and waitlists, while engaging new families in school activities.
External Relations: Serve as the point person for hosting visitors during school tours and community presentations.
Facilities: Oversee school facility maintenance, design, and strategic development.
Finance and Purchasing: Collaborate with the Principal and KIPP NYC Director of Finance to create and manage the school budget; oversee school-based purchasing while applying KIPP NYC's culture of fiscal responsibility.
Logistics: Plan and coordinate logistics for multi-day out-of-state events and other complex school activities, including family events and ceremonies.
Technology: Manage strategic procurement and maintenance of technology equipment in partnership with the KIPP NYC Technology Team.
Student Information and Reporting: Ensure the integrity of the school's student information system and coordinate data analysis and reporting with the KIPP NYC Shared Services Team.
Compliance: Assist the KIPP NYC Shared Services Team in ensuring compliance with health and safety laws, teacher certification, and educational mandates.
