Occupational Summary:
The Director of Plant Operations will oversee the performance of the Operations team within an FDA-regulated cGMP facility. This facility specializes in the manufacturing, blow molding, and packaging of over-the-counter personal healthcare products. The successful candidate will lead and empower teams to implement operational strategies that align with business and customer needs. This role requires leveraging industry best practices, systems modeling, financial analysis, and cross-functional collaboration (including Maintenance and Engineering, Procurement, and Quality) to troubleshoot and seize opportunities for enhancing site and business profitability.
Accountabilities:
- Establish performance goals and long-term operational strategies.
- Optimize efficiency and productivity through comprehensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Set strategic objectives for operational efficiency and productivity enhancements.
- Evaluate current operational processes and performance; implement improvement solutions.
- Direct the processing, packaging, and blow molding operations.
- Oversee all production activities to fulfill customer demands and departmental objectives (quality, cost, service, safety).
- Ensure compliance with FDA and other regulatory agency requirements in all operational aspects.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain to translate supply demands into a long-term production plan.
- Manage both short- and long-term labor and equipment capacity plans.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence to boost productivity, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.
- Develop, implement, and oversee daily operational systems and processes that provide clarity into progress and obstacles related to key initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operational performance to ensure timely production goals are met.
- Develop, direct, and oversee procedures for the safe production of quality blow molded plastics, bulk manufactured products, and finished goods to support the production schedule.
- Ensure a safe working environment at all times.
- Participate in establishing and monitoring standards for quality, compliance, safety, and productivity.
- Manage the development and oversight of annual and quarterly operational budgets.
- Lead the workforce in a motivational manner while ensuring effective and open communication.
- Perform additional related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Operations, Engineering, Scientific discipline, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience in plant operations or a similar role.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements in manufacturing environments.
