As a key member of the Business Unit's Executive Committee and reporting to the General Director, you will take charge of the Smart Lighting R&D department. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the successful delivery of products and solutions while transitioning the organization towards an agile, product and market-oriented approach.
Your Main Responsibilities
Management & Organization:
- Lead and manage the R&D department for Smart Lighting.
- Oversee a team of approximately 20 engineers (hardware, embedded software, project managers, system architects, QA) located in Les Chères and Liège.
- Guide the evolution towards an Agile and product-driven organization.
- Map out skills, define training needs, and ensure a balanced mix of internal resources and outsourcing.
- Manage the R&D budget and make investment decisions in collaboration with management.
Delivery & Roadmap:
- Execute the product and solution development roadmap, prioritizing between long-term projects and short-term requests.
- Ensure the adherence to deadlines, quality standards, and cost efficiency.
- Maintain operational conditions and support for existing products.
Product & Technology Strategy:
- Contribute to the definition of the product roadmap alongside the marketing team.
- Identify and propose technological innovations related to market challenges (IoT, cybersecurity, cloud, AI, etc.).
- Initiate and lead collaborative projects with technology partners.
- Evaluate time-to-market, costs, technological risks, and differentiation.
- Contribute to the group's technology roadmap and collaborate with other R&D units (BUs, Corporate, Digital Factory).
Key Projects and Challenges:
- Develop new ranges of telemanagement for lighting points.
- Create new versions of public lighting supervision platforms.
- Enhance cybersecurity initiatives and contribute to the impact strategy.
- Support the agile transformation without abrupt organizational changes.
