As an E-commerce Merchant Underwriting Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating risks associated with e-commerce merchants during their onboarding process at Guru Pay. Your responsibilities will include analyzing business models, assessing traffic and reputation, and determining limits, MCC codes, and partnership terms, with a focus on delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly analyze applications from e-commerce merchants: validating business models, jurisdictions, MCC codes, and product/service types; assessing chargeback and fraud risk profiles.
- Leverage risk and reputation assessment tools: scrutinize domains, traffic, and digital footprints using Webshield and Similarweb; identify associations with high-risk verticals or bypass schemes.
- Conduct comprehensive KYB/KYC assessments in collaboration with compliance: examine corporate structures, UBOs, licenses; verify documentation against internal policies and Visa/Mastercard regulations.
- Document and communicate onboarding decisions: establish limits, reserves, and rolling reserve requirements.
- Collaborate with various teams: work closely with sales, onboarding, monitoring, and compliance; contribute to the development of underwriting policies.
- Monitor active merchants: review transaction activities, chargeback levels, and risk KPIs; initiate assessments of conditions/limits.
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Lithuanian and English.
- Willingness to work at least three days a week from our Vilnius office.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience as a merchant underwriter, risk analyst, or onboarding specialist within the e-commerce, fintech, or payments sector.
- Proficient hands-on experience with Webshield (or similar merchant verification tools) and Similarweb for traffic/site analysis.
- Familiarity with card processing systems: working knowledge of Visa and Mastercard, including detection of non-compliance issues.
- A proactive, organized professional who relies on their expertise to make informed decisions.
- While not mandatory, experience in acquiring, payment facilitation, or card scheme operations is highly desirable. Knowledge of merchant onboarding, PCI DSS, and experience interacting directly with Visa/Mastercard will be considered a significant advantage.
