About the job
About Quartermaster:
At Quartermaster, we are pioneering advancements to eliminate intelligence blindspots across the globe's oceans. Our mission is to convert maritime fleets into a continuous sensing network by deploying state-of-the-art edge-compute nodes, equipped with high-resolution cameras, Software Defined Radios (SDRs), and cutting-edge edge AI processors, all seamlessly integrated via Starlink. We operate in the most isolated regions on earth, processing vast quantities of RF and visual data at the edge to provide real-time maritime domain awareness.
The Role:
We are on the lookout for a motivated Edge Support Engineer who will be pivotal in configuring and activating our sensor fleet as soon as it is mounted on a vessel. While installation is handled by technicians, your focus will be on the remote setup and ongoing operation of these intricate, distributed systems. You will activate newly installed sensors, configure their cameras and SDRs, and remotely diagnose and resolve critical issues to integrate new nodes into our global intelligence network.
What You’ll Do:
Remote Provisioning: Configure edge nodes remotely, activate Starlink connections, and calibrate cameras and SDRs immediately following physical installation.
Remote Troubleshooting: Serve as the escalation point for edge node health. You'll independently troubleshoot Linux systems, container failures, and hardware-software integration challenges from thousands of miles away.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the essential link between the field technicians who install the equipment on the ship, the backend engineers responsible for data ingestion, and the AI team deploying edge models.
