Job Title: ELS Substitute Instructor
Reports to: Academic Director
Location: Melbourne, FL
Description:
As an ELS Substitute Instructor, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality instruction to our adult learners. You will be responsible for planning, teaching, and assessing classes in alignment with the ELS curriculum. Collaborating closely with the Academic Director, Instructional Specialists, and Senior Instructors, you will maintain student records and fulfill administrative responsibilities as needed. Your participation in professional development initiatives, including workshops and meetings, will contribute to your growth and the success of our educational programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach assigned classes, including Structure/Speaking Practice, Vocabulary Enrichment, Reading/Writing, Language Technology Center, and Skills Enhancement Classes.
- Design engaging lesson plans, exercises, and assessments.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Create a positive and effective learning environment.
- Coordinate attendance and evaluation records with fellow instructors.
- Adhere to institutional policies and communicate them effectively to Associate Instructors.
- Complete necessary administrative documentation as required.
- Maintain organized classroom resources and files.
- Engage in peer observations for professional development purposes.
- Attend administrative meetings and participate in professional development activities.
- Assist Associate Instructors with their instructional needs.
- Contribute to maintaining a tidy classroom and staff workspaces.
- Substitute in emergency situations for part of the day as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English or a related field.
- At least 6 months of teaching experience in an ELS environment.
- Experience teaching adult and young adult students is essential.
