THE JOB
At VEG, we don’t just hire assistants—we cultivate future emergency superstars. As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will be integral to our team from day one, providing support, comforting pet owners, and gaining hands-on experience. You will participate in triage, treatments, and the joy of tail wags as you embark on a career path where you can grow and succeed. Whether your goal is to become a credentialed technician or to explore your passion in veterinary medicine, we are here to support your journey every step of the way.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Welcome and support incoming patients, triaging them for care
- Assist in treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support
- Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians in anesthesia and sedation procedures
- Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration
- Provide assistance in both outpatient and inpatient settings, from exam rooms to treatment areas
- Engage in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care
- Learn CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided!)
- Advance to more complex responsibilities, including anesthesia monitoring and more.
