THE JOB
At VEG, we don’t just hire assistants—we cultivate the next generation of emergency veterinary professionals. As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will be integral to our team from day one, assisting with triage, treatment, and client support. This is your opportunity to embark on a rewarding career path where you can evolve into a credentialed technician or explore various specialties in veterinary medicine.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Be the first point of contact for pet parents and provide support during the triage process.
- Assist with various treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with our skilled veterinary technicians and veterinarians in managing anesthesia and sedation cases.
- Set up and oversee IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication delivery.
- Support care efforts in both outpatient and inpatient settings, from examining rooms to treatment areas.
- Participate in patient rounds to ensure seamless continuity of care.
- Receive training to perform CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer.
- Advance your responsibilities as you grow in your role.
