Qualifications
THE JOBAs an Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you will be an integral part of the team from day one, supporting your colleagues, providing comfort to pet parents, and gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. You will participate in triage, treatments, and the joyful moments of tail wags, embarking on a career path filled with growth and opportunity. Whether you aspire to become a credentialed technician or seek to explore your passions in veterinary medicine, we are here to support your development every step of the way.WHAT YOU’LL DOProvide a warm and welcoming first impression, triaging incoming patients and guiding them towards care.Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.Collaborate with our licensed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.Support care in various settings: from outpatient to inpatient, and from exam rooms to treatment areas.Participate in patient rounds, ensuring continuity of care.Learn CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided!).Progress into advanced responsibilities, including anesthesia management.
