THE ROLE
As a Veterinary Nursing Shift Lead, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the efficiency and cohesion of each shift. You will oversee the daily flow of operations, ensuring that patients receive superior care while supporting your fellow VEGgies. Your responsibilities will include leading team meetings, managing workflow, and providing coaching on the floor. Your proactive leadership style will ensure that the team is equipped to handle any challenges that arise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain awareness of patient statuses, team capacity, and overall shift requirements.
- Oversee daily operations and assist the team in adapting to unexpected situations.
- Clearly assign and adjust shift roles to meet operational needs.
- Provide hands-on assistance whenever necessary, no task is too small.
- Coordinate breaks, facilitate conflict resolution, and remain composed under pressure.
- Lead shift transitions and conduct team huddles and end-of-day debriefs.
- Communicate effectively, directing inquiries appropriately, and highlighting significant issues.
- Transform downtime into learning opportunities or moments for rest.
- Document incidents or noteworthy events with a focus on transparency and improvement.
