THE JOB
As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant Shift Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of each shift. You will oversee the rhythm and flow of the team, guaranteeing that every patient receives exceptional care and that each VEGgie has the support they need to excel. Your responsibilities will include leading team huddles, managing workflow, and providing on-the-floor coaching. You will be the steady guide who anticipates needs and steps in whenever necessary—your leadership will inspire an empowered team that delivers outstanding care.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Monitor patient status, team capacity, and overall shift requirements
- Facilitate daily workflow and assist the team in adapting to unforeseen challenges
- Assign and adjust shift roles with clear communication and care
- Provide hands-on assistance during critical moments; no task is too small
- Coordinate breaks, mediate conflicts, and exemplify composure under pressure
- Lead shift transitions, team meetings, and end-of-day reviews
- Communicate effectively, direct inquiries appropriately, and escalate important issues
- Transform downtime into opportunities for learning or relaxation
- Report incidents and noteworthy events with a focus on transparency and improvement
