Excitingly, USBP is providing a total of up to $60,000 in incentives, detailed below, to help you get started on your career with us.
Salary and Benefits
Newly appointed BPAs earn an annual base salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,219, depending on grade level (GL-5/GL-7). In addition, you’ll have access to a comprehensive suite of federal employment benefits, including health, dental, and other insurance plans, generous leave options, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, similar to a traditional ROTH 401(k) plan.
Recruitment Incentives
Newly appointed BPAs are eligible for up to $20,000 in recruitment incentives. The first $10,000 is awarded upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy, with an additional $10,000 awarded for accepting priority locations such as Sierra Blanca, Presidio, and others in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.
Retention Incentives
BPAs may qualify for up to $40,000 in retention incentives distributed over the first four years of employment.
Duty Locations
Please note that duty assignments may include locations along the Southwest Border, which may differ from your preferences. Relocation may be required based on operational needs.
