SGS is actively seeking experienced Ex-Certified Inspectors (IECEx Ex01-Ex04) to join our team in various locations across the USA. Assignments will be provided on an as-needed basis, with compensation for hours worked and any related expenses incurred. The duration of work can range from a single day to several weeks.
The selected inspectors will be required to enter into an independent contractor/sub-contractor agreement (1099) with SGS North America Inc. While hours are not guaranteed and work availability may vary by location, joining our roster ensures you will be among the first contacted when new opportunities arise.
We are looking for qualified Ex-Certified Inspectors to conduct inspections, verify compliance, and ensure adherence to standards related to explosion-protected (Ex) electrical and mechanical equipment in hazardous (classified) locations. The ideal candidate will possess certification in hazardous area inspection (e.g., IECEx, CompEx, or similar) and have a robust understanding of NEC, NFPA, and OSHA regulations pertinent to the United States.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections on explosion-proof and intrinsically safe equipment in hazardous environments.
- Ensure compliance with:
- NEC (National Electrical Code) Articles 500–516
- NFPA standards
- OSHA regulations
- Relevant IECEx / ATEX standards (if applicable)
- Conduct initial, periodic, and in-depth inspections as per the scheduled timelines.
- Examine engineering drawings, hazardous area classifications, and installation documentation.
- Detect non-conformances and suggest corrective measures.
- Compile detailed inspection reports and maintain compliance records.
- Assist in audits, regulatory assessments, and safety investigations.
- Provide technical support to maintenance and engineering personnel.
- Ensure all operations comply with company safety protocols.
