Join SGS North America Inc. as an Ex-Certified Inspector (IECEx Ex01-Ex04) in various locations across the USA. This role is on an as-needed basis, with compensation based on hours or days worked along with applicable costs. The assignment duration can range from a single day to several weeks.
As an independent contractor, you will be required to sign a contractor/sub-contractor agreement (1099). Please note that while hours are not guaranteed and immediate work may not be available in your area, joining our roster ensures you are among the first to be contacted when opportunities arise.
We are in search of qualified Ex-Certified Inspectors to conduct inspections, verify compliance, and ensure the safety of explosion-protected (Ex) electrical and mechanical equipment in hazardous locations. The ideal candidate will hold relevant certifications (e.g., IECEx, CompEx, or equivalent) and possess extensive knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and OSHA standards applicable in the United States.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of explosion-proof and intrinsically safe equipment in hazardous environments.
- Ensure compliance with:
- NEC (National Electrical Code) Articles 500–516
- NFPA standards
- OSHA regulations
- Applicable IECEx / ATEX standards (if necessary)
- Conduct initial, periodic, and detailed inspections according to established schedules.
- Review engineering drawings, hazardous area classifications, and installation documentation.
- Identify non-conformances and suggest corrective actions.
- Draft comprehensive inspection reports and maintain compliance documentation.
- Assist with audits, regulatory reviews, and safety investigations.
- Provide expert technical guidance to maintenance and engineering teams.
- Adhere to company safety policies throughout all work activities.
