The Executive Director of the Interfaculty Initiative in Health Policy (IIHP) plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape at Harvard University. Reporting directly to the IIHP Faculty Director, this leadership position requires close collaboration with faculty leadership to deliver administrative, operational, and strategic oversight for IIHP’s academic programs. The Executive Director will act as a key liaison among schools, departments, and administrative units, ensuring institutional continuity and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Program Operations
- Manage the academic administration of the PhD Program in Health Policy, including responsibilities for admissions, recruitment, course planning, curriculum updates, student services, and alumni relations.
- Facilitate social and academic events that foster community and collaboration within the program.
- Lead administrative efforts for the undergraduate Secondary Field in Global Health and Health Policy, ensuring coordination and support for students.
- Promote equity and transparency in student-related policies.
- Oversee the management of two academic program websites, ensuring that communication is clear and accessible for all stakeholders.
Financial and Resource Management
- Develop and oversee the IIHP operating budget, including expenditure tracking and alignment with strategic goals.
- Manage student financial aid processes, ensuring equitable distribution of resources.
- Collaborate with faculty on grant applications and annual reporting.
- Assist with fundraising initiatives in partnership with faculty and development teams.
Staff Leadership and Office Management
- Supervise IIHP staff, establishing performance goals and providing opportunities for professional growth.
- Create efficient administrative workflows to enhance program operations and student services.
- Encourage a collaborative office environment that aligns with the mission of IIHP.
- Recruit and oversee student employees for academic support and administrative projects.
- Ensure effective management of the office suite, serving as a central hub for faculty and students.
Strategic Leadership and Program Administration
- Engage in strategic partnerships across departments to advance IIHP initiatives and enhance interdisciplinary collaboration.
