Join O'Hagan Meyer, a leading law firm in Chicago, as a dedicated Paralegal with 3-5+ years of relevant experience. In this full-time role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our attorneys who specialize in civil defense litigation, including single and multi-plaintiff suits, Products Liability, Breach of Warranty, Class & Collective action suits, and complex litigation matters. We are looking for a candidate with extensive litigation experience, a strong proficiency in legal documentation, and a background in trial preparation. The ideal applicant will be detail-oriented, capable of working both independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate initiative along with strong problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive paralegal support in the preparation and review of legal documents including briefs, appeals, complaints, and answers.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
• Assist in the discovery process by preparing requests and responses for discovery.
• Support the legal team by analyzing and summarizing client documents, records, and reports; preparing timelines and chronologies.
• Prepare and serve subpoenas for records and depositions.
• Track progress and compliance of subpoena requests.
• Investigate claims, conduct background checks, interview witnesses, and gather necessary facts and evidence.
• Assist attorneys with document preparation for motion practice, depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Organize and prepare document productions with a focus on analyzing key documents.
• Conduct legal research to support motion practice, hearings, and trials.
• Compile information for expert consultations.
• Manage overall case planning, development, and perform other assigned duties.
• Assist in trial preparation and attend trials as required.
