The Fabrication Superintendent will lead and manage the Fabrication Department's operations. This role encompasses the supervision of the fabrication shop and its personnel, including supervisory staff, focusing on safety, project workflow, quality control, resource management, team member development, cost management, and interdepartmental coordination with the Machine Shop, Quality Assurance, and Engineering teams. The Superintendent will ensure that departmental goals align with the company’s core values and culture. They will also be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining production standards, while identifying and recommending improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Ensuring the proper and safe use of machinery and equipment is a key priority, alongside fostering a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute work safely within the fabrication department.
- Lead training and development initiatives for welders, helpers, fabricators, and supervisors.
- Collaborate with Operations Support and Scheduling teams to plan and develop work schedules in the fabrication shop.
- Direct the workforce efficiently to ensure project completion within budget and on schedule, without quality defects.
- Monitor the quality of work in progress and verify the quality of finished products.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance department to ensure all equipment is well-maintained and operational.
- Manage the fabrication shop's workflow to maintain schedules and ensure adherence to project timelines.
- Keep the Operations Manager updated on any issues regarding manufacturing safety or personnel incidents.
- Advise the Operations and Maintenance Managers on maintenance matters as they arise.
- Review daily scheduling with production teams and provide necessary updates to maintain accurate forecasts and project completion estimates.
- Meet direct hour and productivity goals as established by the Operations Manager.
- Work with the sales team to review estimates and provide valuable input.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering on continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
- Manage team performance, ensuring they have the support, tools, and training required to excel in their roles.
- Oversee contractors and serve as the primary contact with agency partners.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and operational regulations.
