The Facility Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the maintenance and repair of all LESC buildings in New York City. This includes handling plumbing, electrical, and mechanical issues. Key responsibilities include:
Diagnosing and repairing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical issues.
Monthly maintenance of air conditioning systems, including cleaning filters and condensers.
Regular checks of smoke detectors, emergency lights, and fire exit locks to ensure safety and functionality.
Changing fuses, light bulbs, and ceiling tiles as necessary.
Unclogging drains, toilets, and sinks.
Monitoring boiler temperature and oil levels.
Utilizing meters to measure U.V. lighting.
Assisting in the execution of fire drills.
Setting up equipment including chairs, podiums, and audio-visual tools upon request.
Tagging equipment for inventory control.
Providing 24-hour emergency on-call coverage.
Filling in for other facility mechanics and porters as needed.
Performing additional duties as assigned.
