The Department of Social Services (DSS), which encompasses the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS), is on a mission to combat poverty and income inequality. HRA provides critical support to individuals in need, including essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. Meanwhile, DHS is dedicated to addressing homelessness through innovative strategies aimed at helping families and individuals transition from shelters to self-sufficiency.
We are currently seeking a Fair Hearing Representation Supervisor, who will play a vital role within the Centralized Fair Hearing Unit. This position involves representing the Agency during New York State Administrative Hearings, presenting and defending Fair Hearing cases, and effectively resolving issues as necessary. The Supervisor will ensure the provision of a complete and relevant evidence packet to the State Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) while overseeing the Fair Hearing Representatives at the hearing site.
In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Fair Hearing Representation, the Supervisor will coordinate daily operations, monitor hearing activities, and provide guidance to Associate Job Opportunity Specialists. Responsibilities include observing Fair Hearings to refine winning strategies, preparing progress reports, developing corrective action plans, and delivering necessary training.
