As a Field Inspector I, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of grain and food oil transport systems. Operating under general supervision, you will conduct inspections, oversee loading and unloading processes, and sample various commodities in compliance with established government regulations and standard operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and collect samples from containers, barges, and rail cars at diverse locations.
- Supervise the loading process and ensure accurate counts of agricultural products according to applicable standards.
- Physically measure, weigh, sample, and take temperatures of various agricultural products as required.
- Calculate transferred quantities and perform full reconciliations.
- Carry out initial analyses of different grains, preparing samples efficiently for Grain Graders.
- Transport commodity samples between loading terminals and the office.
- May assist in basic laboratory testing of samples under supervision.
- Document inspections thoroughly, taking notes and photographs as necessary, and report all field activities in accordance with National/Regional field forms.
- Maintain ongoing communication with administrative staff regarding job status and any issues encountered.
- Stay updated on industry standards and client procedures, ensuring compliance at all times.
- Prioritize safety by adhering to SGS policies and procedures, safeguarding the health of employees and clients.
- Uphold the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct in all actions.
- Comply with internal standards and perform additional duties as assigned.
