About the job
Join the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), where we are committed to enhancing the quality and affordability of housing in the city. Our mission is to ensure that every New Yorker has access to a safe and affordable home in a community they cherish. We prioritize building and resident safety, creating opportunities for housing affordability, and fostering the strength and diversity of neighborhoods.
The HPD is at the forefront of tackling New York City's housing crisis through a comprehensive strategy outlined in Mayor Adams’ Housing Our Neighbors: A Blueprint for Housing and Homelessness. With an unprecedented investment of $22 billion over ten years, we are dedicated to reducing barriers, addressing homelessness, promoting economic stability, and enhancing homeownership opportunities.
Your role in the Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services (OENS) will involve collaborating with various HPD divisions and community partners to identify and assist distressed properties, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting healthy living conditions.
As a Field Technician in the Division of Code Enforcement (DCE) HQS Unit, you will conduct crucial inspections of vacant apartments and public areas under the Section 8 program, contributing to the overall improvement of the city’s housing landscape.
