About the job
About The Role:
Become an integral member of the Fluidics Team at 10X Genomics, contributing to the development of cutting-edge instrumentation. In this dynamic internship, you will explore promising, cost-effective fluidic actuation technologies—particularly piezoelectric pumps—to assess their potential for our innovative product roadmap.
Your role will bridge theoretical physics with practical applications, encompassing the design of experimental test setups, executing high-precision fluid flow measurements, and analyzing the failure mechanisms of advanced hardware. Collaborating closely with software and fluidics engineers, you will provide critical data to inform vital "Go/No-Go" architectural decisions.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Feasibility Testing: Craft and implement a comprehensive testing suite to assess the performance, precision, and reliability of new piezoelectric pump designs.
- Experimental Design (DOE): Formulate robust protocols to evaluate pump functionalities under various pressures, temperatures, and fluid viscosities.
- Data Analysis: Leverage statistical tools to interpret lifecycle data, identifying potential failure modes and outlining the "robustness envelope" of economical components.
- Hardware Integration: Construct and maintain bespoke test benches featuring sensors, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, and fluidic manifolds.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside the Instrument Software and Mechanical teams to understand operational methodologies for component integration into instrument designs.
- Strategic Reporting: Prepare a comprehensive technical whitepaper and present key findings to R&D leadership, offering clear recommendations for technology integration.
