Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, assess, and analyze new and outstanding FOIA requests.
- Organize incoming requests and create FOIA request folders.
- Input request data into the FOIA tracking database.
- Draft response letters and other FOIA-related correspondence.
- Engage and negotiate with requesters, FOIA personnel, sponsors, and contractors about requested records and the associated information to be disclosed.
- Act as a liaison with requesters, and occasionally, with other agencies regarding records involving multiple agency components.
- Coordinate searches for relevant documents and identify duplicate records.
- Examine program records for relevance and make release determinations.
- Ensure that released materials do not contain information protected under applicable exemptions.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in processing FOIA requests.
- Proven knowledge of FOIA regulations and the application of exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6).
- Experience in redacting records containing trade secrets and confidential information.
