WHAT IS THE ROLE?
The Forestry Assessment Field Coordinator is essential in ensuring the highest standards of tree planting quality are maintained. This role involves verifying that each planting site adheres to and surpasses client specifications through meticulous quality monitoring and precise documentation. Key responsibilities include tracking quality metrics by planter, block, and operational zone, along with delivering accurate, timely reports. To thrive in this position, candidates must meet daily plot targets, prioritize safety protocols, and exhibit a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a robust commitment to operational safety.
Quality Management
- Ensure that all work aligns with or exceeds the quality standards set by clients, contracts, and the company.
- Serve as a reliable authority on quality in the field.
- Highlight the connection between quality, productivity, and safety.
Field Evaluations & Audits
- Conduct routine quality evaluations and audits based on client requirements and map specifications.
- Achieve or surpass the expected number of plots each day while adhering to systematic sampling techniques.
- Confirm compliance with planting standards, maps, specifications, and any equivalent guidelines.
- Identify patterns, deficiencies, and recurring quality issues.
- Provide clear, timely feedback to supervisors and field crews.
Stock Management & Care
- Ensure proper handling, transportation, storage, and safeguarding of seedlings.
- Maintain seedlings within the required temperature, moisture, and handling standards.
- Oversee cache setup, handling practices, and daily inventory management.
- Assist in implementing corrective actions for stock damage, loss, or mishandling.
Coaching & Development
- Guide crews on quality expectations and best practices.
- Assist with onboarding and refresher training on quality and stock handling.
- Reinforce correct techniques through observation and practical feedback.
Documentation & Reporting
- Meticulously document quality assessments, findings, and corrective measures.
- Monitor and track quality metrics and trends.
- Create professional reports for operations and clients.
- Ensure quality data is comprehensive, timely, and defensible.
Corrective Actions & Follow-Up
- Collaborate with supervisors to create and implement corrective action plans.
- Confirm the completion and effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Escalate persistent or systemic quality concerns as needed.
