The Role Involves:
- Creating innovative computational biology challenges that mimic authentic research workflows;
- Developing problems that require Python programming solutions (utilizing Numpy, SciPy, BioPython);
- Ensuring that tasks demand significant computational resources, making manual solutions impractical within reasonable timeframes (days/weeks);
- Formulating problems that necessitate complex reasoning in bioinformatics, systems biology, and molecular modeling;
- Grounding challenges in real-world research or practical applications in biological fields;
- Validating solutions through Python using established computational biology libraries;
- Clearly documenting problem statements and providing verified correct solutions.
Candidate Profile:
This role is ideal for biology experts with Python experience who are open to part-time, non-permanent projects. The ideal candidates should possess:
- A degree in Biology or a related field;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation; familiarity with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or any programming language is also acceptable;
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience, be it in applied research or teaching;
- Experience in biological data analysis and algorithms;
- Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and computational techniques;
- Strong written English skills (C1+ level).

Project Expectations:
Tasks are estimated to require approximately 10–20 hours per week during active phases, based on project demands. This is an estimate and does not guarantee a fixed workload.
Compensation:
Contributors can earn up to $29 per hour, contingent on their contribution level and pace. Compensation may vary between projects based on scope, complexity, and expertise required. Please note that other projects on the platform may offer different earning structures based on their specific needs.
