Role Overview:
As a contributor, your tasks will vary with each project, but may include:
- Crafting unique computational engineering problems that replicate real-world engineering workflows;
- Formulating problems that necessitate Python programming for engineering calculations and simulations;
- Ensuring the problems are computationally demanding and utilize numerical methods or iterative solutions;
- Engineering problems related to system design, optimization, and analysis;
- Grounding the problems in actual research challenges or practical applications from engineering.
- Validating solutions through Python using standard engineering libraries;
- Clearly documenting problem statements and providing verified correct solutions.
Candidate Profile:
This opportunity is ideal for mechanical engineers proficient in Python, seeking part-time, non-permanent projects. Preferred qualifications include:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation; familiarity with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, domain-specific libraries, Stata, or any equivalent programming language;
- At least 2 years of professional experience, whether in applied, research, or teaching roles;
- A solid understanding of practical engineering constraints and approximations;
- Strong written English skills (C1+ level);
- Professional certifications (e.g., CMME, SAS Certifications, CAP) and experience in international or applied projects are advantageous.

Tasks are estimated to require approximately 10–20 hours per week during active project phases, dependent on project needs. This is an estimation and not a guaranteed workload.
Compensation:
Contributors can earn up to $69 per hour, based on their experience level and contribution pace. Compensation may vary across projects based on scope, complexity, and required expertise.
