The Environmental Services Technician II embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM). This role requires adherence to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Availability for Day shift and every other weekend is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly cleans and maintains patient rooms, offices, public areas, treatment rooms, and other assigned spaces daily, including trash collection, bed linen changes, and surface sanitization.
- Adheres to policies regarding patient isolation and contact precautions as necessary.
- Restocks paper supplies and other materials in designated areas as required.
- Keeps cleaning equipment and carts in a clean and operational state, storing them appropriately.
- Promotes workplace safety by utilizing wet floor signs, personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensuring cleaning supplies are attended.
- Handles cleaning chemicals and equipment safely, ensuring correct usage and labeling.
- Alerts supervisors regarding equipment repairs and reports safety hazards immediately.
- Communicates any scheduling issues or obstacles to supervisors and proactively addresses observed deficiencies.
- Builds and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with hospital staff while ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills and articulates information clearly to patients and customers.
- Efficiently manages work tasks to meet deadlines.
- Engages in continuous improvement initiatives and contributes to cost-reduction efforts.
- Presents a professional and approachable demeanor at all times.
- Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and addresses concerns promptly or directs them to the appropriate resources.
