This role requires a clinically competent, registered professional nurse who is skilled in prescribing, delegating, and coordinating nursing care for acutely ill patients through comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will effectively engage with patients, families, and health team members, upholding the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of professional nursing practice. The NM Internal Agency RN will be prepared to perform duties across all Northwestern Medicine hospital locations, as dictated by the work schedule.
As a valued member of the NM Internal Agency RN Team, this position offers diverse assignments across all NM hospital locations, typically with a minimum assignment duration of six (6) continuous weeks, and a maximum of six (6) continuous months at a single location. This role not only enhances clinical skills but also fosters communication and teamwork, allowing the RN to build meaningful relationships with staff across the Northwestern Medicine network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze patient data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized care plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress toward achieving outcomes.
- Direct patient care and determine appropriate utilization of support staff involved in care delivery.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff to create documented plans focused on outcomes and care delivery communication.
- Engage in shared decision-making, committee involvement, and unit projects.
- Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in health records, tailoring care plans based on evaluations.
- Utilize the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide nursing practice decisions.
