The Field Hazmat Technician plays a crucial role in hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, general construction, and various other essential tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize hand tools and specialized equipment, including absorbent booms and pads, to effectively contain and remediate contaminated surfaces, soils, and waters.
- Operate both light and heavy machinery, such as pumps, vacuums, oil spill booms, generators, and bobcats.
- Conduct emergency response operations involving chemical and water spills, biological contamination, tank cleaning, and equipment decontamination.
- Commit to a reliable 12-hour shift schedule, whether day or night, demonstrating dependability and consistency.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to work on-call projects as well as longer-term assignments.
- Demonstrated experience with pump watch, gabion wall setup, and sediment removal is required.
- Capability to engage in labor-intensive activities in diverse weather and environmental conditions.
- Reliable transportation is a must.
- Ability to adhere to safety protocols while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and protective clothing.
