At AECOM, our dedicated water scientists within the Water Environment team collaborate with a diverse range of clients from both the public and private sectors. This includes partnerships with UK Water Companies, the Environment Agency, Highways England, Natural England, Water Utilities, and various Rivers and Wildlife Trusts. We also engage with commercial developers and international clients on major projects, such as the HS2, where our team plays a crucial role in leading water environment chapters in Environmental Statements and conducting Water Framework Directive (WFD) assessments.
The Birmingham office is seeking a motivated Hydrogeology/Groundwater Specialist Graduate starting from June 2026, contributing to our ongoing success in the field.
In this role, you will conduct groundwater investigative studies, including baseline studies, conceptual site model preparation, and data analysis for water levels and quality. You will also engage in groundwater exploration and development field studies, supervising drilling, borehole specifications, and conducting water monitoring, as well as performing groundwater impact assessments.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct site work, collecting groundwater and surface water data, and supervising borehole drilling and testing.
- Compile and analyze data into existing and new databases.
- Utilize specialized groundwater software, such as AquiferWin32.
- Perform desk study evaluations of project hydrogeology and contribute to factual and assessment reports.
- Prepare graphical and GIS deliverables.
- Support ongoing innovation and business development initiatives.
- Collaborate with the groundwater team and other disciplines, including hydrology, flood management, geotechnics, contaminated land, and ecology.
