About the Role
We are on the lookout for a talented and detail-oriented UAV Pilot to fly drones equipped with advanced hyperspectral imaging systems. You will be responsible for capturing high-resolution aerial imagery and sensor data across the greater Los Angeles area, with potential travel opportunities across the United States. This position is hands-on and offers flexible hours, ranging from part-time to full-time, with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and data integrity during flight operations.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct drone operations to gather high-quality imagery and sensor data as per mission objectives.
Effectively operate drone-mounted hyperspectral imaging systems under varying field conditions.
Configure, calibrate, and verify hyperspectral sensors and payload settings prior to each mission.
Perform thorough pre-flight inspections and equipment checks for optimal performance.
Execute flight plans safely and efficiently across diverse environments.
Monitor real-time payload operation and sensor control to guarantee precise data acquisition.
Troubleshoot drone, payload, and software issues in the field to minimize downtime and ensure mission success.
Ensure data quality, completeness, and integrity before departing from field sites.
Maintain detailed flight logs, sensor logs, and mission documentation.
Collaborate with internal teams for scheduling and data delivery processes.
Utilize and debug commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) drone and imaging software to facilitate smooth operations.
Manage FAA Part 107 waiver applications when necessary (e.g., altitude waivers).
Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.
Adapt to changing weather conditions and evolving mission requirements.
