Position Overview:
We are seeking skilled and credentialed inpatient coders to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have meticulous attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology. This fully remote role offers a flexible schedule, allowing you to influence the future of healthcare from the comfort of your own workspace!
Your Responsibilities:
- Apply diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems.
- Accurately sequence and abstract medical codes from patient records while ensuring compliance with documentation standards.
- Supervise and audit the work of Level 1 and 2 Coders as necessary.
- Identify and advocate for documentation improvement opportunities and coding discrepancies, coordinating resolutions with relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and ensure a 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignments.
- Meet site-specific productivity benchmarks consistently.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, management, and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.
Qualifications for Success:
- At least 3 years of recent experience in inpatient coding within a healthcare facility.
- Preferred certifications: CCS, RHIT, or RHIA.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AHIMA-accredited Health Information Management or Nursing Program, or completion of a certificate program from AHIMA/AAPC, with a preference for CCS certification.
- A minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience at a Level I Trauma Center, ideally within an academic medical institution.
