- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and audit teams to ensure IT policies align with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Identify and mitigate IT-related risks, focusing on minimizing operational disruptions, security vulnerabilities, and data privacy issues.
- Perform regular risk assessments and audits to gauge the effectiveness of IT controls and governance processes.
- Draft and uphold IT policies in key areas such as security, data management, risk management, software licensing, and vendor oversight.
- Manage the creation and upkeep of IT procedural manuals, guidelines, and best practices.
- Communicate IT policies and procedures clearly across the organization, ensuring adherence from relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with senior leadership and business units to align IT strategy with organizational goals and objectives.
- Partner with project managers and department heads to ensure IT investments and initiatives are aligned with the organization’s strategic direction and deliver value.
- Monitor and evaluate key IT projects and initiatives to ensure they comply with governance standards and business priorities.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the effectiveness of IT governance.
- Track and report on the performance of IT operations, including risk management, compliance, and control effectiveness.
- Prepare and present regular governance reports and dashboards to senior management and stakeholders.
- Promptly communicate and address governance-related issues and risks.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including IT leadership, business executives, auditors, and compliance teams.
- Educate stakeholders about the significance of IT governance and the role of compliance in safeguarding the organization’s assets and reputation.
- Ensure transparent communication of governance-related policies, processes, and changes within the IT department and the organization as a whole.
- Lead initiatives aimed at the continuous improvement of IT governance processes, controls, and risk management strategies.
- Implement feedback mechanisms, lessons learned, and best practices to enhance governance maturity over time.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements in governance to keep the governance framework relevant and effective.
