Position Overview
As a Key Holder at Costello's Ace Hardware, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring the store operates smoothly and efficiently. This position is designed as a stepping stone towards an Assistant Manager role, where you will be responsible for managing the store independently during your shifts as the Manager on Duty. You will lead by example, maintaining high standards of store presentation and operations. Your responsibilities will also include training new staff, overseeing store openings and closings, and safeguarding store assets by adhering to operational policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the E.C.E.T. (Every Customer, Every Time) philosophy in every customer interaction.
- Maintain a customer-ready environment on the sales floor at all times.
- Promote related products and execute the S.A.L.E.S. process effectively.
- Stay informed about all current promotions and store advertisements.
- Achieve daily operational goals and priorities set by management.
- Contribute to the training and development of fellow team members.
- Engage in daily huddle meetings to strategize and align store efforts.
- Ensure merchandising and store cleanliness meet company standards.
- Assist in processing new shipments and organizing the receiving/back stock area.
- Greet every customer who makes eye contact with you throughout the store.
- Answer phone calls professionally and courteously.
- Remain vigilant against potential merchandise losses and report discrepancies to management.
- Notify management of any pricing errors to ensure accuracy.
- Demonstrate proficiency in executing all store services, including paint mixing and key cutting.
- Organize all shipments and ensure overstock is stored appropriately.
- Collaborate with management to coach staff on inventory management best practices.
- Assist in training visual merchandisers to maintain and update plan-o-grams.
- Regularly review in-store and window displays, making necessary adjustments for improved presentation.
- Monitor and expedite all store transfers efficiently.
- Take responsibility for opening and closing the store, securing all assets.
- Process damaged and defective merchandise promptly and accurately.
- Follow all loss prevention procedures to protect company assets and educate staff accordingly.
- Maintain a positive and open relationship with the management team.
- Address safety concerns proactively and immediately.
