About the job
Are you an experienced Rail Safety Officer, Local Security Leader, or Equipment Manager in the rail industry? Here's a fantastic opportunity to embark on a dual role! VolkerRail is seeking a part-time Lead Rail Equipment Coordinator!
What Will You Do?
As a Lead Rail Equipment Coordinator, you will ensure that our team is well-equipped with essential rail equipment. This includes fencing (adjacent to or along the tracks), warning devices, signal boards, and short circuit rods. These tools are crucial during train service disruptions, creating safe separation from train operations and providing alerts for approaching trains to prevent collision risks. Therefore, knowledge of safety protocols surrounding rail operations is essential.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-oriented colleague who is driven to strengthen our team. Someone who maintains composure in a sometimes hectic environment, is flexible, and can quickly switch between tasks. You will alternate day and night shifts with another colleague, meaning you'll work day shifts one week and night shifts the next. This part-time role is perfectly suited to those already working as a Rail Safety Officer, Local Security Leader, or Equipment Manager.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Installing and removing physical barriers (fencing). You will sometimes work independently, but often lead a team for larger projects;
Ensuring that work sites are released in compliance with safety regulations;
Operating warning devices to provide a ‘Guaranteed Warning’ in conjunction with the GRW role;
Inspecting and repairing equipment in the warehouse as needed, ensuring readiness for the next assignment;
In addition to your role as Lead Rail Equipment Coordinator, you will also take on duties as a Rail Safety Officer, Local Security Leader, or Equipment Manager.
What Do You Bring?
You are medically and psychologically approved according to railway standards;
You reside near Wijk bij Duurstede;
You have completed training as a Rail Safety Officer, Local Security Leader, or Equipment Manager, along with a minimum operator training (or are willing to learn);
You are flexible and possess a keen desire to learn;
You hold a valid driver’s license B/E.
What Can You Expect?
A one-year contract with the intention of extending to indefinite;
A salary ranging from €3,165 to €4,400 per month, depending on age and experience;
A laptop and phone to ensure you are always reachable;
A generous leave package with 43 days off; 25 vacation days plus an additional 18 roster-free days;
Excellent training opportunities.
