Key Responsibilities
Academic Duties
Ensure students feel recognized, respected, and challenged throughout their learning journey.
Establish a safe and positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
Regularly collaborate with co-teachers to analyze student data and devise appropriate language support strategies.
Develop language goals and objectives, crafting lesson plans that guide students toward achieving these targets.
Design and deliver targeted, small group language-focused lessons.
Incorporate students’ linguistic, cultural, and background considerations in lesson planning and classroom dynamics.
Co-create and internalize academically aligned lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments.
Set ambitious and specific growth targets for all students, utilizing resources effectively to help them reach their goals.
Embed core values into daily lessons and school practices, implementing positive classroom management and student culture systems.
Maintain accurate student records and grades, ensuring open lines of communication with families regarding student progress.
Compliance Duties
Organize and oversee ACCESS testing for MLL students, ensuring proper documentation for testing accommodations, and collaborate with Special Education teams as necessary.
Provide guidance to SEI teachers and educators working with exited multilingual learners (EMLs).
Conduct TELL assessments quarterly (4 times a year).
Complete quarterly progress reports for current MLL students.
Work together with families and educators to create Student Success Plans for MLL students not meeting ACCESS benchmarks and track their progress toward goals.
School and Professional Involvement
Engage in both school-wide and individual professional development activities, including pre-service training during the summer and weekly sessions throughout the academic year.
