Our legal team plays a vital role in supporting AbbVie's mission by providing expert legal advice across a wide range of business functions.
We are looking for a motivated and inquisitive law student to join our team this summer and gain practical experience within a dynamic in-house legal department.
Position Overview:
As a summer student in AbbVie's legal department in Montreal, you will collaborate with experienced lawyers and legal professionals on substantial matters related to Quebec civil law, regulatory affairs, intellectual property, contract review and drafting, as well as compliance. You will work in a bilingual French-English environment, reflecting the legal and business realities of Quebec.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth legal research on Quebec civil law, pharmaceutical and regulatory law
- Draft and review contracts, legal memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents under the supervision of a lawyer
- Assist lawyers in tracking and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments relevant to AbbVie's activities
- Participate in compliance initiatives by reviewing internal policies and identifying areas for improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Prepare presentations and summaries of legal research for internal stakeholders
- Engage in team meetings, strategy sessions, and continuous training programs
