The Library Special Collections & Archives Student Associate role offers an exciting opportunity for students to gain practical experience in the realm of rare and unique materials. Associates will engage in a variety of tasks such as shelving and retrieving materials, providing research and outreach assistance, performing data entry, maintaining library catalogs, and creating archival finding aids. This position allows students to work closely with rare, fragile items, including archival collections, manuscripts, and rare books.
Position Details:
This is a Student Level B position with a competitive pay rate of $14.95 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Retrieve, reshelve, shift, and track rare books and archival materials.
- Assist in organizing and rehousing archival collections, contributing to online finding aids.
- Maintain rare book and archival collections by updating labels, inventories, and catalog records.
- Utilize high-resolution flatbed scanners to scan materials for patron requests.
- Support research efforts, preparation of exhibits, and social media outreach initiatives.
