Renowned retail organization located in Surrey is actively seeking an immediately available part-qualified or fully qualified Management Accountant to become an integral part of their team on a 12-month contract.
Management Accountant - Role Overview
In collaboration with the FP&A Manager, you will play a crucial role in delivering essential financial and operational analysis for the business. A significant emphasis will be placed on the month-end reporting cycle, ensuring the delivery of timely, relevant, and accurate management information, while continuously seeking more efficient operational methods. You will be adept at interpreting financial data for a non-financial audience and possess experience in managing stringent deadlines.
Key Responsibilities as the Management Accountant:
- Collaborate with finance team members to generate comprehensive monthly management accounts for distribution throughout the organization.
- Assess monthly accruals/prepayments, deferred/accrued income, and post as necessary.
- Analyze financial results and effectively communicate key drivers impacting business performance.
- Report site performance metrics to Operations Managers and the broader organization.
- Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation.
- Prepare a comprehensive overview of all balance sheets, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Assist in forecasting and budgeting inputs for the reporting system.
- Take ownership of Profit & Loss accounts and the production of management accounts.
- Review consolidated P&L statements, address queries as needed, and deliver accurate monthly management accounts punctually.
- Manage the division's P&L and balance sheets while providing commercial analysis and support, including:
- Identifying and analyzing underlying issues from investigations and proposing potential solutions.
- Delivering precise reporting packages for management, encompassing KPIs, key deliverables, and various financial reviews.
- Supporting the Finance Manager with corporate and project work as dictated by business needs.
- Work closely with Category and Operational Managers, ensuring the precision and consistency of local financial information.
Qualifications for the Ideal Management Accountant:
- ACCA / CIMA / ACA or equivalent finalist/qualified
- Significant experience within a finance role, preferably in a retail environment
- Proficient in financial analysis and reporting
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
