Carfair Composites is a pioneering force in fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) design and composites technology. Our dedicated team is spread across several locations, including Winnipeg, MB (Canada), St. Cloud, MN (USA), Anniston, AL (USA), Wausaukee, WI (USA), and Gillett, WI (USA).
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Manufacturing Engineering Technician, you will play a key role in enhancing our manufacturing processes. You will support various engineering activities to improve production efficiency, uphold health and safety standards, and implement quality and Lean initiatives. This hands-on position requires teamwork and effective communication with production staff to achieve our operational goals.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Troubleshoot processes and equipment to provide technical support to production.
- Engage in projects aimed at enhancing production indices, HSE initiatives, product quality, and service.
- Collaborate with Lean resources, maintenance, production, and quality teams to meet targets.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding equipment and quality concerns.
- Contribute to team efforts to meet objectives and actively pursue remedial actions.
- Participate in assigned Lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, value stream mapping, setup reduction, etc.).
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
- Stay updated with relevant industry and production technologies to advance manufacturing processes.
- Act as a communication bridge between engineering and the production floor.
- Relay customer change notices to the shop floor and provide feedback on discrepancies.
- Perform minor fixture adjustments, parts layup for FAI, and trimming.
- Utilize measuring tools, including calipers and micrometers, for accurate measurements.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Strong technical background.
- Hands-on individual with a proactive approach.
- Post-secondary education is preferred, with eligibility for CET or P. Eng designation.
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proven record as an effective team player.
- Experience with 3D modeling is an asset.
- Proficient in using MS Office and measurement tools.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
