About the job
Join Skip on our mission to transform lives through innovative powered movement solutions.
At Skip, we believe that movement enhances physical, mental, and social well-being. However, 2 billion individuals face mobility challenges due to age, injury, or disabilities. Our goal is to create groundbreaking products that restore mobility and enable joyful movement experiences for millions. Imagine a future where grandparents can effortlessly keep up with their grandchildren on outdoor adventures!
Founded in 2023, Skip is an ambitious start-up that originated from Google X. With a team of 20 talented professionals and strategic partnerships—including one with Arc'teryx—we are poised to launch the first commercially viable wearable robotic device, the MO/GO. We are also developing a platform for future Movewear products, aiming to revolutionize lives worldwide.
The Role
As our Manufacturing Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in bridging our innovative product vision with the manufacturing processes that bring it to fruition. You will be responsible for implementing quality systems and processes that guarantee our wearable robotic devices are produced to exact specifications, consistently and at scale, through our international manufacturing partners.
This position is an individual contributor role within a flat team of exceptional engineers, where every team member has a direct impact. You will operate with significant autonomy, establish quality infrastructure from the ground up, and spend considerable time on-site at our manufacturing partners in Asia. Your involvement will span the entire product lifecycle—from New Product Introduction (NPI) through ramp-up to full production—making you a vital voice in Skip's scalable manufacturing strategy.
What You'll Do
Lead and manage quality systems for our overseas contract manufacturers, including incoming inspections, in-process controls, final acceptance testing, and outgoing quality assurance to ensure our products are manufactured correctly every time.
Act as the primary quality liaison with our overseas manufacturing partners through regular on-site visits for process audits, problem resolution, and building strong collaborative relationships with factory quality teams.
Oversee NPI quality activities: evaluate Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA) outputs, define control plans, develop inspection standards, compose work instructions and assembly documentation, and support initial Article Inspection (FAI).
Establish and maintain product quality specifications, acceptance criteria, and inspection sampling plans across mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical assemblies.
