As a Materials Buyer at Smiths Group PLC, you will play a pivotal role in managing the procurement of direct materials and subcontract services. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with the Smiths Group PLC Code of Conduct, fostering professional relationships with suppliers, and executing purchasing strategies that align with our corporate objectives. You will oversee the approval process for Purchase Orders in accordance with our Delegation of Authority policy, ensuring timely processing of orders and MRP action messages such as Orders, Expedites, and Cancellations.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing suppliers to secure the best pricing and terms.
• Utilize negotiation tactics and procurement best practices to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while controlling direct material costs and achieving annual savings targets.
• Contribute to operational efficiency by proposing innovative ideas and supporting a culture of continuous improvement within your scope of responsibility.
