Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Duties:
- Lead or co-lead in one or more classrooms, which may involve independently teaching, co-teaching, or temporarily covering classes as needed.
- Ensure that every student feels affirmed, valued, and challenged on a daily basis.
- Create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
- Develop and internalize rigorous and engaging lesson plans, utilizing provided resources and intellectual tools.
- When necessary, design and internalize lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments that align with academic standards.
- Establish ambitious growth targets for all students and utilize resources to help them achieve those goals.
- Innovate and apply best practices for delivering engaging, differentiated instruction that meets rigorous standards for all learners.
- Implement school-wide or grade-level cultural systems and proactive classroom management strategies.
- Analyze student work and academic data regularly to refine lessons and enhance instructional practices.
- Maintain current and accurate student records and grades while establishing strong communication with students and their families regarding progress.
School and Professional Responsibilities:
- Complete required MTEL and SEI endorsements with financial support from KIPP MA within the first year, accompanied by free study support.
- Engage in school-wide and individual professional development opportunities, including summer pre-service training and weekly sessions during the academic year.
- Take ownership of your professional development, actively seeking and applying feedback from coaches and collaborating with colleagues in and out of school settings.
- Fulfill assigned duties such as classroom coverage, bus, lunch, transition, and dismissal responsibilities.
