At Mindrift, we facilitate the connection between experts and project-based AI opportunities with leading technology firms, focusing on the evaluation, testing, and enhancement of AI systems. This is a project-based opportunity, not a permanent position.
Role Overview
In this role, you will engage in a variety of tasks unique to each project, including:
- Creating original computational mathematics problems that reflect genuine mathematical research processes;
- Developing programming-based problems utilizing Python (with libraries such as Numpy, SciPy, and Sympy);
- Ensuring that problems are computationally demanding and require significant time to solve (days to weeks);
- Designing challenges that incorporate complex reasoning in areas like number theory, combinatorics, graph theory, and numerical analysis;
- Formulating problems based on authentic research challenges or practical applications in mathematics;
- Validating solutions through Python using standard mathematical libraries;
- Providing clear documentation for problem statements along with verified correct solutions.
Qualifications
This opportunity is ideal for mathematicians with Python expertise who are open to part-time, non-permanent projects. Preferred qualifications include:
- A degree in Mathematics (Pure or Applied) or related disciplines;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation; experience with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or other programming languages is also acceptable;
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in applied, research, or teaching roles;
- Familiarity with numerical methods and symbolic computation;
- Adeptness in designing problems that mirror actual mathematical research workflows;
- Knowledge of computational complexity theory;
- Strong command of English (C1+ level).
Application Process
To apply, submit your application, pass the necessary qualifications, join a project, complete tasks, and receive compensation.
Project Commitment
Project tasks are estimated to require approximately 10–20 hours per week during active phases, contingent on project needs. Note that this is an estimate and not a guaranteed workload.
Compensation
Contributors can earn up to $45 per hour, depending on experience and contribution pace. Compensation may vary across projects based on scope, complexity, and required expertise. Other projects on the platform may offer different earning opportunities.
