Profile Description:
As a Mechanical Subject Matter Expert (SME) operating at the program level, you will spearhead the establishment of standards and best practices for Mechanical Systems within our data center projects. Your responsibilities will include evaluating mechanical systems designs through RIBA Stage 3, ensuring adherence to program-wide requirements, local standards, and hyperscaler specifications. Beyond this stage, you will collaborate with project teams throughout tender evaluations, development, commissioning, and integration phases, ensuring the delivery of robust, scalable, and secure mechanical systems. In this role, you will also promote knowledge sharing, empowering teams with expertise and fostering continuous improvement in mechanical engineering methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Standards and Governance:
- Establish and uphold program-wide standards, templates, procedures, and best practices for mechanical systems (Cooling, Ventilation, Fire Safety, Fuel Systems, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, hyperscaler requirements, and Goodman protocols.
- Encourage ongoing improvement and innovation in mechanical designs, collaborating with the Goodman engineering team to ensure that all designs are feasible, compliant, and meet Goodman’s and end-user requirements.
Design Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that projects are executed safely and sustainably.
- Assist program and project-level design managers in defining the mechanical scope of work for each project phase.
- Engage actively in various data center and substation projects from concept through detailed design to guarantee compliance with Goodman’s standards and relevant international and local regulations.
- Provide constructive feedback to refine standards as necessary.
- Review consultant deliverables for safety, scope compliance, spatial coordination, constructability, and maintainability.
- Confirm specifications and diagrams for mechanical system capacities.
- Conduct technical bid reviews for general contractors and major equipment vendors.
- Respond to RFIs from consultants, designers, and general contractors.
