About the job
Founded in 2015, 1X is pioneering the development of cutting-edge humanoid robots tailored for household tasks. Our vision is to generate an abundant labor force through the creation of safe, intelligent humanoids.
As a Mechanical Engineer at 1X Technologies, your primary focus will be on the design, construction, and validation of mechanical subsystems for advanced robotics and automation solutions. You will take ownership of components from conceptualization to production, with a particular emphasis on tendon mechanisms. Collaborating closely with design, testing, and manufacturing teams, you'll produce dependable and maintainable designs and documentation that align with performance, safety, and cost objectives in a dynamic R&D-to-production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for robotic and automation systems.
Devise solutions for rope/tendon-driven systems, including routing, anchoring, and tensioning.
Utilize 3D CAD software for model creation, drawings, and GD&T.
Conduct hand calculations and basic FEA to assess strength, stiffness, fatigue, and vibration.
Create prototypes, perform bench and system-level testing, and iterate designs based on empirical data.
Lead DFM/DFA reviews in collaboration with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams.
Work with cross-functional teams to diagnose issues and enhance reliability.
